Pixel 4: see what's new in the new Google cell phon

Google on Tuesday presented its new Pixel 4 phone in New York - also in its Pixel 4 XL version - that competes with the latest iPhone and other high-end phones.

The new mobile has a 5.7-inch FHD 90Hz screen with OLED panel, which occupies more than 80% of the front face. In that part it contains an 8 MPX camera.

But the novelty of the phone in terms of cameras is in the back For the first time, the phone has two cameras there: one of 16 MPX and another of 12.2 MPX.

These also have a new improved version of the "night vision" technology that allows sharper and long exposure photos to capture the light of the stars, in the astrophotography function.

For this, the phone needs to be supported on a tripod or other independent stable surface

For daylight photographs, Google introduced the "double exposure" mode. This allows the user to set a different exposure setting for brightness and shadows using controls on the screen, and preview the results in real time.

This means, for example, what an exposure setting can use for the background sky, and another for the people you see in the photo.

It has a miniature radar
This is also the first smartphone that has the new Google Neural Core chip and voice recognition technology for the Google assistant locally.

This means that you can recognize natural language without sending the information online to Google's servers.

Thus, the data in voice format stays on the phone, and this means an increase in privacy, as well as the possibility of operating without internet.

Another novelty is the Soli radar (a miniature sensor that helps the cell to detect the movement around it), which makes its debut after having been in development for five years in the laboratories of the American company.

This is used to give the device the ability to turn on the screen and other circuits only when it detects that someone is nearby and, therefore, extend the phone's battery.

Also to activate the facial recognition system when it detects that a hand is approaching, which helps to unlock the phone more quickly.

It also serves to recognize controls located in gestures, which allows the user to change songs or screens, silence the phone or postpone an alarm without touching the device.

Phone created for "technology fans"

According to Jonathan Bray, from the specialized website, Exercise Reviews, although these new features are impressive from a technical point of view, they are unlikely to be attractive to the vast majority.

"How many people are really going to use 'astrophotography'? I'm not sure that much."

"Pixel is still something really for technology fans, rather than for a mass market," Bray said in statements to the BBC.

But Google Hardware Director Rick Osterloh noted that this is only the beginning.

"We think it is a great base to develop more and more capabilities," said Osterloh.

"It really supports the idea of environmental computing, whereby technology simply vanishes in the background and you can interact with it more naturally," he adds.

The phone went on sale in three colors: white, black and a limited edition in orange, priced at $ 799 for the 64GB version and $ 899 for the 128GB version.
