How to apply for a new Voter ID card: NVSP (online) and Enrollment office (offline)

Have you not applied for your Voter ID card? Then you cant cast your vote in the coming elections. Election Commission of India introduced online services, NVSP (National Voter’ Service Portal), where you can register for a new Voter ID card for Indian citizens above 18 years of age.
NVSP (National Voter’ Service Portal), the official website, to apply for a new Voter ID card or request to correct any information. Let’s see how to apply or request for corrections –
Pre-requisites to enroll as a Voter in India
• Must be an Indian citizen.
• Must have attained the age of 18 years (qualifying date 1st of January of the year of revision of electoral roll)
• Should be ordinarily resident of the part/polling area of the constituency
• Should not disqualify to be enrolled as an elector
If you meet the above criteria, then you can enroll for a new voter ID card.

How to register to NVSP.in?

To register online enter your mobile no and captcha code, then click on “Send OTP”. Once you get OTP, enter that and choose either –
                                  0 I have an EPIC number
                                0 I don’t have an EPIC number.
Accordingly, the form will change and ask for your details such as EPIC no, mobile no, email ID, etc. Fill in the required details and click on “Register”.

How to apply for a Voter ID card?

Login to NVSP by entering EPIC no or email ID or mobile no to login and then proceed further
Step 1: Once you are logged-in to NVSP.in, click on the dashboard on the top right side.
Step 2: The dashboard will appear with various options, on the left you can see “Fresh inclusion/Enrollment” button, click on that.
Step 3: You will get an option to choose for Citizenship –
                                0 I reside in India                                0 I reside outside India
Then select state form which you wish to apply for Voter ID
Step 4: A form will appear where you need to fill all the required details as well as attach required document “Address proof” and then click on ‘Next’.
Step 5: Another form will appear asking for your date of birth and required documents. Fill in the details and attach the document, then click on ‘Next’
Step 6: There are 5 more forms need to be filled with required details and supporting documents to proceed further including –
Your assembly constituency, Personal details, Additional Information, Declaration and at the last you can “Preview” all the details. Now its time to submit the form.
NVSP will evaluate your details and then confirm your enrollment.

How to register for a Voter ID card offline?

Enrolling for a new ID card is quite easier both online and offline. In the case of online, you can do that any time any day, but for offline you need to visit the nearest enrollment center on a working day as well as between the office hours.
Step 1: Get the form 6 from the office available for free from Electoral Registration Officers / Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Booth Level Officers, and fill in all the details.
Step 2: Attach relevant documents to support your given information.
Step 3: Hand over the form and documents to the Electoral Registration Officer / Assistant Electoral Registration Officer or send by post or hand over to the Booth Level Officer of your polling area.

In this method #1 you are supposed to visit the electoral search website, one of the official website which was maintained by the C-DAC on contracting basis with the help of election commission of India.
